The Importance of Primitive Reflex Integration

The Benefits of Primitive Reflex Integration:

Did you know, in children with ADHD, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Sensory Processing Disorder, Defiance Disorders and other Neurodevelopmental Disorders, researchers have found that in 100% of the time those children have retained Primitive Reflexes!

What are Primitive Reflexes?

All babies are both with primitive reflexes.  The purpose of each reflex is to help a baby learn how to live in and explore the world around them.  These reflexes are supposed to integrate into the brain stem, or “go away”,  by the age of 1 year once they are no longer needed. Sometimes however the reflexes are not integrated properly.

Unintegrated Primitive Reflexes

Primitive Reflexes that persist beyond age one interfere with normal neurological development. The specific movements babies make when reaching developmental milestones: rolling over, pulling up, crawling, walking etc., actually create and grow neruopathways in corresponding parts of their brain which serves to integrate these reflexes into the brain stem.  When movement is restricted or developmental milestones are reached too early, delayed or skipped, this cause the reflexes to remain unintegrated which always leads to gaps in neurodevelopment.

The Good News!

There are simple movements that you can do at any age to integrate theses reflexes, as well as strengthen the weak parts of the brain and ‘fill in” the gaps of brain development.

Primitive reflex integration exercises lead to significant improvements in children who struggle with ADHD, Autism, Learning disabilities etc., reducing or even eliminating their symptoms all together!
